José Antonio Montaño will conduct the 21th century premiere of Fantochines, an opera by composer Conrado del Campo with libretto by Tomás Borrás. Fantochines is a Fundación Juan March and Teatro de la Zarzuela coproduction.
Montaño has led the revision of the edition of the music score, non-existent until now. The edition is a Fundación Juan March initiative, having worked from the manuscript score of Conrado del Campo.
Tomás Muñoz is responsible for the stage direction. The musical cast, conducted by Montaño, is comprised of Sonia de Munck (soprano), Borja Quiza and Fabio Barrutia (baritones) and the musicians of the Orquesta de la Comunidad de Madrid.
The March, 11th performance was radiocasted on Radio Clásica of Radio Nacional de España and will be recorded live by Television Española for an upcoming broadcast.
