The Forum Musikae Symphony Orchestra, under conductor José Antonio Montaño, is preparing to close the 2023-2024 season with an emotional concert in honor of the illustrious clarinetist José María Santandreu, who was a professor at the Forum Musikae Higher School and passed away in January of this year. This event, conceived as a moving celebration of his life and musical legacy, will feature the participation of professors Justo Sanz, Josep Arnau, Pablo Fernández, and Pedro Rubio, who will join the orchestra to perform Louis Alexander Balthasar Schindelmeisser‘s Sinfonia Concertante for four clarinets.

Additionally, as part of the program, the interpretation of Ralph Vaughan Williams’ The Lark Ascending will be included. The distinguished violin professor Gábor Szabó will perform as a soloist in this emblematic piece known for its musical representation of the flight of a lark.

To complete the evening’s repertoire, iconic works from different eras and musical styles will be included: Charles IvesThe Unanswered Question and Mozart’s Symphony No. 35. The Unanswered Question captivates audiences with its enigmatic atmosphere and unconventional structure, while Mozart’s Symphony No. 35, also known as the Haffner Symphony, showcases the composer’s mastery of form and melody, paving the way for his final and brilliant symphonic period that will culminate with his Symphony No. 41 Jupiter.

The concert will take place at the Antonio Machado Cultural Center in Madrid on Saturday, May 11th.
